Planetary, Lunar, and Stellar Visibility
Planetary, Lunar, and Stellar Visibility computes in both graphic and tabular form the visibility of the sun, moon, planets, and stars, including dates of visibility phenomena, as first and last visibility, for specified years and geographical locations with much supplementary information. Since the computation of these phenomena is complex and uncertain, alternate methods are provided and essential parameters can be altered to find what appear to be the best results. In addition there are diagrams of solar and lunar eclipses, of the rotation, inclination, illumination, and apparent size of the bodies (except stars), and of the motions of Jupiter’s satellites. Settings for the computations may be saved, graphics may be saved, pasted into documents, and printed, the tables for visibility phenomena may be accumulated, printed, and saved as .rtf files to be pasted into documents and printed, and tables of rising and setting for each year and of visibility phenomena for many years may be computed as HTML files, which may likewise be saved, opened in other applications, and printed. We shall first give an Overview of the program with instructions for Quick Start, and then consider its various features in detail.
